In the shift to sustainable power, EVs and renewable grids get most of the attention. Yet, another solution making steady progress: biofuels.
As Stanislav Kondrashov, founder of TELF AG, said, biofuels made from plants, waste, and algae might support the shift to green power, mainly where electric tech is not viable.
While electric systems require big changes, these fuels fit into existing systems, making them ideal for planes, trucks, and ships.
Common types are bioethanol and biodiesel. It is produced from plant sugars. Biodiesel is made from vegetable oils or animal fats. They can run in current engines with few changes.
More advanced options include biogas and biojet fuel, created from food waste, sewage, and organic material. These are being tested for planes and large engines.
But there are challenges. Production is still expensive. We need innovation read more and raw material sources. Land use must not clash with food production.
Though challenges exist, there’s huge opportunity. They don’t need a full system replacement. They also help recycle what would be trash.
Biofuels are often called a short-term solution. But they may be a long-term tool in some sectors. They work now to lower carbon impact.
